running routes

We%26#39;ll be in Omaha for a couple of days in January and just wondering if anyone knows of any could running routes that are 5-10kms long?

JBECKP, it depends on where you are staying.

Omaha has a great system of trails that runs along a creek. It has numerous sections all over town, and you are never far from any of them.

Try www.ci.omaha.ne.us/parks/trails/trailmain.htm for a map and distances,

Keep in mind though that Omaha in January can be anywhere from +40 F to -10 F on any given day.

I am not sure about KM but we are out on the west side and we enjoy using the paths / trails around Chalco Lake ( 6 mile loop ) and Zorinsky Lake ( both sides just short of 8 miles ) . There is a nice trail around Standing Bear Lake but right now they tore up the paving so it is just dirt and its bound to be muddy or just ice during January.

There is a system of trails along Papio creek - there is a parking lot at 159th and Pacific street and you can go south all the way to Zorinsky or north a few miles on paved trail from there.

Walnut Creek lake at Schram Road between 96th and 102 st has nice trails if you are in Sarpy county ( south ) .

Here is a web link to some local trails
