What are the ';must sees'; at Henry Doorly Zoo?

We will be coming through Omaha in a few months and we would like to stop by the zoo, however, we will only have about 2 hours to spend there, as we will not be arriving until around 3;00pm. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what we should definitely not miss there at the zoo?

Thanks so much!

Hi mamjuls,

The zoo has several truly special sights not to be missed - one of the top, if not THE top indoor rainforests in the world, an amazing walk through aquarium, and the Desert Dome. I%26#39;d start with the rainforest and then hit whatever else you have time for. The outdoor animal exhibits are also very good, if you have time for them. I%26#39;d suggest a visit to the IMAX theatre also, but with only two hours - go to the main zoo.

My family loves the aquarium (which is right next to the rainforest/jungle).

I didn%26#39;t even know there was one. My son loves aquatic animals. We will have to stop there! Thanks.

In the aquarium there are many species of fish on display. Also, there is an exhibit of penquins. Another neat feature is the glass tunnel that you walk through with the sharks swimming on the other side of the glass.

Second the desert dome and don%26#39;t forget to go downstairs for creatures of the night.

The gorilla home is one of the newer buildings and offers some good viewing.

The nice thing is that the jungle, the desert dome %26amp; the aquarium are all located near each other near the front of the zoo. 2 hours is tight, but it can be done.

We will see what we can do. Thanks!

I agree - hit the rain forest, aquarium, desert dome, and the basement of the desert dome, which is the kingdom of the night (caves and swamp). They are all very close to each other. If there is one to skip because time is running out, I would skip the desert.
