Any good restaurants near Omaha off 680

I am staying at the Marriott off 680 on Regency and was wondering if there are any good restaurants particularly steak restaurants near the hotel.

Any good restaurants near Omaha off 680

Most steakhouses in Omaha will be OK, because you%26#39;re in Nebraska, most beef is great. I would probably recommend you head to Brother Sebastian%26#39;s Steakhouse which is on 119th off of Pacific. Do an internet search on Brother Sebastian%26#39;s to get exact directions or ask at the hotel. I%26#39;ve always had good steaks there and great atmosphere too.

Any good restaurants near Omaha off 680

There is a Fleming%26#39;s within walking distance, very good upscale steak house, though it is a national chain. For something good and local try The Drover, Gorat%26#39;s (Warren Buffett%26#39;s favorite), or Mahogany (very pricey). There are some great restaurants in the Old Market if you want to travel further from your hotel (V. Mertz, Passport).

There is also a Kobe Steakhouse at the Regency Court shopping area. (Walking distance from your hotel.)

I disagree about Brother Sebastians they have a average steak at best and spotty service. I have been there quite a few times but do not go there again you will get a better steak at Lone Star at a better price.

The restaraunts in the Marriott are not bad at all by the way.

The mall just north of the hotel ( Westroads ) has some good chain places like PF Changs or Macaroni Grill not steak places. There is the Texas Roadhouse at 156th and Dodge.

Why go to a chain like the Macaroni Grill when you%26#39;re staying in Omaha? We know our beef! I highly recommend the Drover for a Whiskey Steak. You simply can%26#39;t order anything of that quality at TGIFriday%26#39;s. Also, the Upstream Brewery has high quality steaks and other menu items sure to please. They have a relaxed, come as you are attitude we Omahans are famous for (well, almost famous). Closest to where you are, I%26#39;d check out Stokes, on 114th and Dodge (The Underpass District). They have a really good selection of food and always have a good wine selection. Plus, it%26#39;s easy to stay under $40 for 2 people which makes it even better.

I love people who claim to know so much about food, but 95% of their choices are national chains.

I love posts by people that don%26#39;t know good food ( or meat ) but still recommend bad places to eat just because they are not chains and they don%26#39;t know any better.

Keep telling us how sophisticated your tastes are. Now, go enjoy your Sizzler steak.

Most people who work in the beef industry consider Omaha Steaks as one of the top suppliers. Here is an incomplete listing of Omaha restaurants that use their meats:

safe and fun is what we are looking for.

thanks

december 31st

There are several spots in the Old Market area downtown and some of the hotels put on events also.

The Embassy Suites is walking distance as are a couple of others kind of depends what you are wanting like dancing or just music and what kind.

december 31st

not to discourage you from stopping in omaha, but kansas city is maybe an hour farther from chicago than omaha is. I%26#39;d just drive straight through and go out in kc.

You%26#39;re in a great age-range to experience the up and coming music scene for people in your age group. check out the Sokol Auditorium and www.omaha.com for entertainment ideas.

  • Omaha: Worth a visit?

    Hi everyone,

I%26#39;m hoping to make a month long trip to the USA this summer and I am intending to travel all the way across the country from coast to coast. I am trying to work out a route, and I was wondering if it is worth making a stop in Omaha.

Is there much to see? Much to do? I%26#39;ve always liked the sound of Nebraska, should I visit?

    Thanks in advance.

    Omaha: Worth a visit?

The zoo is very good some of the attractions there are an inoor rainforest and desert with animals of the night underneath. The Western Heritage Museum and Josleyn Art Museum and the SAC Museum which is about halfway to Lincoln.

Depending on the time of year Mahoney State Park has many things to do it%26#39;s right next to the SAC Museum.

Another event as you head west is the migration of the sandhill cranes and snow and Canada geese around Grand Island.

You can follow the Oregon and Mormon Trails from Omaha and in areas still find ruts left by wagon wheels.

You can turn to the north and go through a fossil bed or Toadstool State Park and then Ft Robinson where Crazy Horse spent his last days. Afterward you can go through western South Dakota and Mt Rushmore.

    Omaha: Worth a visit?

    The simple answer is no.

I live and work here-if I did not have to work here, I would not stay in this city:

its great for a family: it lousy as a tourist destination.

Go via Chicago or denver-skip us!

I slightly agree with the last poster. Omaha is not really a top notch destination city. There are some nice things to see and do if you are here and as was said its a pretty darn nice place to live and raise a family and its easy to get around in.

If its convenient and you are traveling cross country on I-80 you might want to stop at a few places that were previously mentioned but if I was traveling to hit

some of the hot spots of the USA it probably would not be on my list.

A lot depends on what you like to do like anything - if you are in to Zoos or Opera, do you like a trendy urban scene? Jazz? Certain things are here that you might like and certain are absent.

Note any specifics and maybe the people on the list can let you know if those things are located here.

    sprague Nebraska

I am going to be doing an internship in Sprague nebraska nad i was wondering if anyone could tell me any thing about this town or area

    IS IT PRETTY?

    IS IT A BIG TOWN?

REALLY ANY INFORMATION WOULD BE A GREAT HELP !!!

    THANKS

    sprague Nebraska

Welcome to NE. What ranch (farm) will you be doing your intership? Ranches is western NE are huge compared to the ones in eastern NE.

Sprague is along a creek so you have lots of trees, just not as many as in the mts. Population is about 100, but you are only 12 miles to Crete and 13 miles to Lincoln. Crete has a college and Lincoln has the University of NE plus 4 other colleges. There are always activities going on at the colleges. What are your interests? We know the postmaster at Sprague, any questions you want us to ask?

    sprague Nebraska

    HEY THANKS FOR THE INFORMATION

    i appreciate it !!!

no no questions right at the moment ... its going to be the L5 youth ranch

i will be goin up ther this summer ... and cant WAIT !!!! I HOPE TO ENJOY IT AS MUCH AS IM EXCITED ABOUT IT !!

IS THERE anything interesting to see ... anywhere close ?

If you like to fish or boat, there are several lakes not far from Sprague. Also, there is the capitol, NE Natural History Museum, Germans from Russia museum, telephone museum, Pioneers park, many golf courses (public and membership) etc. in Lincoln. Omaha has a fantastic zoo and other things. Doane College in Crete has some national speakers come. Crete has some interesting architecture buildings. Near Beatrice is the Natioanal Homestead Monument with a new visitor%26#39;s center shaped like a sod buster. We hope this helps.

Kansan looking for family vacation ideas

We would like to go on vacation during spring break this year and am at a loss for what to do. Our oldest will be graduating so it may be the last time we all take a big trip together! Flying is really not an option with the size of our family (and budget). We are about equally split between liking outdoor activities and just lounging. A trip near outdoor activities but with nearby modern accomodations (from cabin up) would be ok. Trips over the years (to help with our interests) have included camping in the Black Hills of South Dakota, all things tourist in San Antonio, white water rafting in Colorado, all things tourist on the East coast from North Carolina to Massachusets, visiting family and doing tourist type things in Alabama and Minnesota. We try and do different things/places to reach all areas of the country. It has been a few years since we have been on a big trip together (too many teenagers with too many activites).

Do you have an suggestions for your state? Our kids are 12-18.

Kansan looking for family vacation ideas

This would be during Spring Break 2008 - March 15-22

If you are at all interested in wildlife, one of the most spectacular things to see that time of year is the sandhill crane migration. You could stay anywhere in the Kearney or Grand Island area and see some truly unique and magnificent birds in awesome numbers.

If you contact the Kearney Chamber of Commerce, I know that they have information on this as well as other area things to do and places to stay. There are several more minor side trips in the area... the Kearney arch is worth an hour or two, the Hastings Museum is another one that I%26#39;d put in the same category.

Omaha has an awesome zoo. Outside of Omaha near Ashland Nebraska has the SAC museum and Mahoney State Park is nearby. They have cabins you can stay in but they book in advance.

Could also drive from Ashland to Lincoln about (30 minutes). The University of Nebraska in Lincoln has a museum with old elephants and dinosaurs. I believe it%26#39;s called Morrill Hall.

There are several museums throughout the state featuring a wide variety of events and history from Nebraska’s past. They often hold special weekend events as well. The museum is located in Ashland.Another Ashland attraction is the Willow Point Gallery and Museum. This is an indoor museum that features 29 wildlife species. For More Information Visit

    Relocating to Omaha

We will be moving to Omaha next spring and were wondering about good neighborhoods for kids, schools. Have read about Papillion. I will be working at Offutt. Also heard Bellevue is nice. Concerned about safety, good schools.

    Relocating to Omaha

Both are good locations and there is a very strong military presence in both areas.

    Relocating to Omaha

I%26#39;d recommend La Vista and Papillion over Bellevue. The Papio-La Vista school district is much better than Bellevue. Bellevue has the most crime in Sarpy County. Papillion and La Vista are cities around 20,000 people, very progressive and growing, especially La Vista west of 96th Street.

We moved to the west area of Omaha almost 4 years ago and love it. Millard school district is very good. Also lots of shopping and restaurants, too. We are glad we made the move. Good luck with your move.

For schools, I would certainly recommend looking into Papillion-Lavista South (around 96th and Highway 370) or Gretna (around 200th and Highway 370).

Gretna would be much further, but both are just a straight shot West down Highway 370 from the base.

The Westside School District, also called District 66 has the best schools in the area. I would stay away from Omaha Public Schools if at all possible. D66 was actually named in the top ten list of public schools in the US when Redbook Magazine compliled a list some years back.

    indoor waterpark/waterslide hotel

is there a hotel in Omaha, NE with an indoor waterpark hotel or just a waterslide?

    indoor waterpark/waterslide hotel

I%26#39;m not aware of any in Omaha, yet. There was just a plan approved to build one by the MidAmerica center in Council Bluffs, but it will be a while before it is built. One is definitely needed in the area!

    indoor waterpark/waterslide hotel

You might be thinking about Great Wolf Lodge in Kansas City.

    None in Omaha.

Omaha area is lacking in water parks, a couple of outdoor ones are on the books though. Of course, who wants to build a business that can really only operate on nice days 3 months a year.

There aren%26#39;t any indoor water parks, however, there is an outdoor one. It%26#39;scalled FunPlex. They have a water slide, wave pool, lazy river and some amusment park type rides.

Isn%26#39;t there a Bellevue hotel that is gonna do an indoor water park?

    I don%26#39;t know of any in Omaha area, but there are two that are ';nearby';

Holiday Inn in Kearney, Nebraska. 185 miles West of Omaha on I-80. Has two small slides and a kiddie area with padded short slides, all indoors.

Holiday Inn in Amana, Iowa. 240 miles west of Omaha on I-80. Has an indoor waterpark called Wasserbahn.

Any others?? google might be able to help on this one.

Yes there is- the Holiday Inn downtown has a new waterpark called CoCo Key Resort and the Kelly Inn has a great toddler pool with water slides etc.
