Lincoln Hotel

I am looking for a nice hotel in Lincoln. I will be traveling with my family, staying for a few days. We also would like to stay near the University of Nebraska. Also if you have any suggestions for things to do with kids, I would appreciate it. Thank you.

What is the amount you would want to pay for a room? There are three hotels close to UNL, but they are $$$. Lincoln is an easy town to find things so I wouldn%26#39;t worry about staying out from UNL where hotels will be more reasonable. The NE state history museum is a fun place for all ages. Also, the state capitol gives free tours and we have elephant hall on main campus. East campus has a quilt museum, a delicious dairy store for ice cream, and a tractor museum. Unless, your kids are young the zoo would be a waste of time for you. Pioneers park has some great trails for hiking and picnics. Also, a small buffalo herd and a few elk. These can be viewed from right next to the road. We also have a telephone museum, rollerskate museum (free), and a Germans from Russia museum. Lincoln Children%26#39;s Museum is about 4 years old and a wonderful place for young kids, lots of hand-on activities. A person could spend a 1/2 day there with all of the activities.

In Beatrice, about 45 minutes south, is the National Homestead Museum. This is the site where the first homesteader lived in NE. This summer they opened a new visitor%26#39;s center, shaped like a plow that was used to turn the sod, a sod buster. Thousands of items on display pertaining to homesteading. Most week-ends they have special events. A one-room school house is just down the road and can be toured. Also, there are trails to explore the prairie.

Thank you for your reply tourist2. I just want to make sure we stay in an area that is safe and somewhat near UNL. We would like an outdoor pool if possible. The attractions you listed sound like a great idea. Are there any sporting events in town that we might attend?

Any hotels on 27th ST. would be convenient to UNL. Most hotels have indoor pools, but I could check for outdoor. What price range? Also, when are you coming so I could check for sporting events. In the summer, we have the Saltdogs baseball team which is having a great session. Also, the U%26#39;s sports teams.

We will be in town July 8-11. Anything sports related would be great.

A minor league baseball team, Saltdogs, will have home games on July 9th-11th. They play the Explorers at 7:05. The stadium is great and not very old. It is just west of UNL%26#39;s Memorial Stadium.
