CoCO Keyes - looking for some feedback

We are thinking of heading to the Holiday Inn Waterpark/CoCo Keyes for a weekend with the kids. Any feedback?

CoCO Keyes - looking for some feedback

Hi, I just posted a special discount offer for day passes to Coco Key in Omaha that you can get at www.MomsOfOmaha.com. You can get $10 off each ticket if you order online from the link provided. Very good deal. It%26#39;s a very fun place - sort of a slightly smaller version of Great Wolf Lodge in Kansas City - but much closer.

The reviews on TA aren%26#39;t the best, but my sister and family (kids 11,7,3) stayed last fall. They really enjoyed the water park. The hotel room was typical, adequate for them.

We were just there last weekend. Totally NOT impressed with the place. Thankfully, since my husband travels for work and mostly stays in Holiday Inn Express, we had two free rooms. Since we didn%26#39;t pay for the waterpark package rooms, we had to buy the waterpark passes seperate. This is about the only nice thing...they gave those to us half price since dh is a ';priority club'; member.

The waterpark is small, no real places to sit. The ';lazy river'; water was freezing. You had to stand in line forever to get a raft. Most of the people who had a raft kept them so they could use them on the slide. Lines for the slides weren%26#39;t long at all, they were soso according to my kids. The open pool area in the back is very small, kids packed in like crazy. The hot tub was packed as well, the lifegaurds kept coming in every 20 min. to tell those that under 15 had to get out if they didn%26#39;t have a parent with them. Yet the same life guard stood at the gate letting all the kids in. Part of the hottub has an opening to the out door hottub which, for some reason they had open even though it was like 10 degrees outside. The kids would swim to the outside then run in through the doors opening the door and letting in so much cold air. One lady, who was sitting at a table while the family swam was in jeans and long sleeves was wearing her coat it was so cold.

I don%26#39;t know if they limit the amount of people in the waterpark, but in my opinion, they should have only had about half the people in there that were there. I know that you can just buy a ';day'; pass without even staying at the hotel.

If my kids were younger (they are 12,14,16) and didn%26#39;t know how to swim, I would have been worried for their safety because there weren%26#39;t enough lifeguards for the number of people there.

Is the original pool in the Holidome area still there and still open? It had a beach-entry sloping bottom that was great for younger kids just getting comfortable with the water. We%26#39;re headed to Omaha for the Olympic Swimming Trials in June/July, and probably staying out that way.
