Qwest Center neigborhood

Living in rural western NE. we hear lots about drive by shootings in Omaha. We%26#39;re coming in for the Bob Dylan concert and wondered about a safe and convenient place to stay for the night of the concert plus an additional night. I usually stay further out in western sections of town but wouldn%26#39;t mind being closer to downtown.

Anyone have any thought on this??

Thanks!

There%26#39;s a Hilton right across from the Qwest with a skywalk or a few blocks away is a Hilton Garden Inn and a Embassy Suites. The latter two are close to the Old Market area.

The downtown and old market area is not usually a place to worry about. Most all of the gunplay is in the usual neighborhood on the north side - a few miles north of downtown. I would have no problem recommending staying downtown.

I second gray horse. You are safe downtown in the Qwest Center neighborhood. It is geared towards out of town guests and is pretty heavily patroled by the OPD. The gun action is nearly 30-40 blocks north and west of the downtown area. Have a good time.

Not to worry! Very safe area! Try the Hilton next door to the QWest Center, or, if you want to be more in the Old Market district, the Hilton Garden Inn is up the street as is Embassy Suites and also the Marriott. All are very nice.

Have a great time in Omaha!

I don%26#39;t mean to flame the original poster, but living in Omaha we hear stories about escaped convicts robbing casinos and locking down communities in western Nebraska. Should I be worried next time I%26#39;m in western Nebraska?

Please don%26#39;t stereotype Omaha as this chaotic, lawless town where people run around and shoot everybody. Omaha has crime, Chadron has crime, Scottsbluff has crime, Grand Island has crime. We all have crime.

So, since it%26#39;s safe to be down there, what%26#39;s the best place to go eat and grab a cold one after the concert?

I%26#39;d recommend the Upstream. It%26#39;s Omaha%26#39;s local brewpub. They brew their own beer and have a pretty good menu with some pretty good atmosphere as well. If you google upstream and Omaha you can check out there website.
