Slumpbuster & CWS ??'s

Hello all,

We are taking 2 teams to Omaha this summer. First off what is the bonfire pin trading event like? Do the teams show up? Are they really trading pins? The last few pin trading events we have been to with boys haven%26#39;t been that great. Do the older boys still trade?

Any other opinions on this event would be welcome!

Thanks,

C

I am not even sure what you are talking about here.

Slumpbuster %26amp; CWS ??'s

We are also coming for the Slumpbuster/CWS and I was wondering the same thing. I was also wondering if we need to bring our own chairs or if the fields will have bleachers or what. I hope the fields around town are decent.

Well if you have any questions you will have to be a little more specific - where will you be - what games ?

The College World Series? What is %26#39; slumpbusters %26#39; ?

The slumpbuster is a youth baseball tournament that coincides with the college world series. Teams will come from all different states to play and also get to watch some CWS games. We just found out 2 of the fields we will be playing on. Zorinsky and Al Veys. Do you know if we will need to bring our own chairs to these fields? Can you reccommend any good non-chain restaurants to go while in town?

Thanks

I am not far from Zorinsky so will take a look and see if they have bleachers there and will post back.

Not sure about Al Veys - just a note, Al Veys is just north of Harrison on 60th St, I think that there is construction on Harrison east of 72nd Street so you might have to come in from the east instead from the west on 72nd st - just for you to be aware.

Went to the Zorinsky Lake fields yesterday - yes, they have bleachers to sit in. No telling how full they will be though LOL...

We have had a lot of rain with the storms recently and the lake was out of its normal banks - did not impact the fields but don%26#39;t forget to bring insect repellent.

Have a great trip and good luck to your team.

Thank you very much, I appreciate the info!

Restaurants - a tough question - this is a true restaurant town. I don%26#39;t know much about the 60th and Harrison area, but there are a number of restaurants between 168th and 180th and Center, which is only about a mile from Zorinsky. GodFather%26#39;s is an excellent local pizza chain, there is Roja%26#39;s (Mexican) several brew pubs (Upstream, Fox and Hound) steak houses (Colton%26#39;s) hamburger places (Fuddruckers and Red Robin) HU-Hot Mongolian Grill and JC Mandarin (Asian), barbecue (famous Dave%26#39;s)plus many fast food options and chain restaurants like Olive Garden and Panera%26#39;s. You can find just about anything here! I know I%26#39;ve left out a ton of options, but this is just off the top of my head.

I%26#39;ll offer a couple of non chain restuarants in the 60th and Q/Harrison area.

Lansky%26#39;s at 50th and L. They%26#39;ve got great pizza and great philly steak sandwhiches.

I%26#39;m also fond of Romeo%26#39;s a local Mexican/pizza chain. I know, weird combination, but it%26#39;s decent Mexican, reasonable prices, and quick. Always busy when we%26#39;re there, and always lots of familes.

The closest one would probably be 96th and L.

Grandmother%26#39;s at 84th and L is a local place with great wings. There%26#39;s a bar atmosphere in the basement or a sit down atmosphere upstairs.

I%26#39;ll also put in a plug for Runza. If you%26#39;re never had (or heard of a runza). It%26#39;s a fast food place all over Omaha and a runza is like a meat filled calzone, I guess, would be a close comparison, but it%26#39;s really not Italian. They%26#39;re excellenct (and also have great fries and rings as well).

Thanks for your tips everyone! I guess I should have been more specific in my original post. When you say we are going to ';Omaha'; here in Chicago everyone assumes you are going for baseball. I am sure not many of you in Omaha knew that you are famous for other things besides Boys Town and Nebraska Furniture Mart! :)

Still if there is anyone out there with opinions on the Slumpbuster/Triple Crown Sports tournament let me know!

Thanks and good luck to all that are going!
