Not sure if we should visit Omaha....

Wondering, I live in Des Moines, is Omaha a good place to go for 4-5 day long weekend get away. We have two children, aged 7 years and 14 months. Thinking about March 8th.

What do you think we should do? Is it worth staying for 4-5 days??

Zoo for sure, Waterpark yes at least one night, what else??

Not sure if we should visit Omaha....

Childrens Museum is one thing. There is an Imax theater at the zoo as well.

Your 7 year old may enjoy the SAC Museum and Mahoney State Park is right before it.

Amazing Pizza Machine on Millard Ave has all kinds of games plus go karts.

If you look for things to do, there can be a lot. For the kids, maybe a performance at The ';Rose'; Theater. It%26#39;s a children%26#39;s theater that puts on professional plays. The appearance of the theater alone is very impressive to children. It looks like a magic castle. My brother is 11 and he loves going to the Old Market. On Saturday mornings starting in March, I believe the farmers market is starts up down there. It%26#39;s fun to taste all the samples and bring back souvenirs of your trip. Also my brother loves being able to go into all the unique shops down there, and there is a ';secret'; passage through one part of the market. A lot of great places to eat down there as well as snack (ice cream, coffee shops). West Roads Mall has a huge arcade in its lower level, with mini-golf. There is a great Art Museum as well as the Heritage Museum, where the kids can get on board old rail cars, that have been restored. I would just look a lot online. Omaha can be boring if your a local and don%26#39;t appreciate it, but people like me who have lived there here and there, have a greater appreciation. Oh yeah and the Henry Doorly Zoo is supposed to have the best indoor jungle in the country. It%26#39;s really fun there.

Also, if the weather is nice, a picnic in Con Agra Park is nice. There is a water/light show, and lots of space to play. My dad and brother like to go to Mahoney Park a lot. There is lots to do there, fishing, camping, horse riding, waterpark, kids activities, etc. OR for something closer, Lake Manawa is just across the bridge. They have playgrounds and swimming beach.
