Lincoln, NE to San Antonio, TX - Family trip in June by van

We are traveling from Lincoln, NE to San Antonio, TX in June 2008. Any ideas on places to stop or stay along the way. We plan to go to Sea World but beyond that we are open to any family activity. Kids are 7, 11, and 13.

Hi :)

We made this trip just a couple of years ago by plane. Be sure to go through the Alamo with the tour guides. Also dont worry about a place to stay

as San Antonio is the 3rd largest convention center in the USA with only Washington DC and Las Vegas ahead of them. Oh take lots of quarters and nickles with you as they have an excellent bus trolley system and the drivers are just as helpeful as they can be. A ride is 80 cents to almost everywhere and they will give you a pass to get on the next trolley if you need to. When we were riding, one of the trolleys had a broken money meter and so that driver was letting everyone ride for free until his bus went into the shop for repair. Also walk along the

riverwalk and ride the little boats too. PLUS and I have been saving the best for last. They have a museum of Texas history and its called the Whitte

or Witte museum. They even do skits in the after-

noons and its well worth seeing. Just tell them you

want to see the wit museum. Have fun, its a

convention town and the streets are as safe as can

be. Never saw homeless person or a drunk anywhere

the whole time we were there.

An old guy :)

A neat place to stop would be Homestead National Monument 4 miles west of Beatrice. A new visitor%26#39;s center was built in the shape of a sod buster plow. Also, you can take hikes, visit the exhibits, and see a one-room school house.

In Kansas, a good rest stop are the Flint Hills. Hutchinson, KS has an underground salt mine that you can tour, an Cosmosphere and Space Center, and an old order Amish community at Yoder.

OK City has a great hiking path with pioneer related sculptures near the river in downtown OK City. Also, a Brass Pro shop is near if it is hot and you don%26#39;t want to hike far.

Have a safe trip.
