Weekend Get-Away?

Would you suggest Omaha as a weekend get-away location. My husband and I are looking for a place to go. We are from eastern South Dakota, so Omaha is rather close. We are looking at the end of March/beginning of April.

Any other suggestions? Thanks.

Weekend Get-Away?

I did a quick look at the calender for the Qwest Center and the convention center.

March 20-22 NCAA men%26#39;s basketball -soldout

March 30 Blue Man Group

April 2-6 Cirque du Soleil

Convention Center

March 28-30 World of Wheels classic car show

April 3-6 Omaha Home and Builders show

Most if not all of the zoo should be open and Mahoney State Park on the Platte River has many things to offer and next door is the SAC Museum many planes.

We like to do relatively short trips at times and learn a little about the area.

March is a peak time to see waterfowl in the south central part of Nebraska--of course Sandhill crane migration along the Platte river is at it%26#39;s peak the end of March. I know this may not sound like a romantic thing at first but if you stay at a bed and breakfast such as Oldfather Guest House in Kearney: http://www.oldfatherguesthouse.com/ which is on the banks of the Platte River. Cranes mate for life and their dance can be romantic... Just check out the Nebraska tourism website @ http://www.visitnebraska.org. There are some wine tasting ';packages'; and there are also wineries around Omaha as well. Good luck and I will be curious to find out what you end up doing!

We love Lauritzen Gardens, Strategic Air Museum, Zoo Complex has so much to offer. Childrens Museum, Joslyn Art Museum
