Zoo For Sure

We definitely would want to hit the zoo, but what else would be good for family with 2 teens?

ALSO:

What would be your first choice for a hotel with nice rooms and indoor pool with hot tub, that is within walking distance of either zoo OR Old Market?

I%26#39;m thinking Omaha might be a good destination for a family vacation. We%26#39;ve never been there.

TIA

The Strategic Air Command museum would be pretty interesting to a couple of teen boys I woudd think.

I%26#39;d recommend staying downtown. Lot more selection on hotels. Haven%26#39;t stayed in too many downtown, but the Embassy Suites is a great location and has received some good reviews.

If you%26#39;re in town on a Saturday in late August or early September, you could maybe take in a Cornhusker football game in Lincoln. It%26#39;s quite an event.

Our Joslyn art museum is pretty neat, but don%26#39;t know how well the teens might like it.

Not sure if you%26#39;re flying or driving, but I%26#39;m thinking Omaha might be like a two night max. Perhaps combo with something going on in Kansas City as well.

The Durham Museum just south of the Old Market area may also be of interest you can also check the calender for the Qwest Center.

The AVCA womens volleyball tournament is the end of August and River City Roundup is in Sept there is a rodeo and other entertainment then.

The Holland Center as well as the Mid-America Center across the river may have events going on when you visit.

There are some other options for hotels along with the Embassy already mentioned there is a Courtyard and Hilton Garden Inn close by and the Hilton Hotel, Doudletree, Hampton all within walking distance.

The River City Star is nice experience, river boat that takes various trips up and down Missouri river. www.rivercitystar.com They also have bikes to rent.

Durham Western Museum has a lot of train stuff and has some interesting exhibits. Last year we hit the Colt (gun) exhibit, several years ago they had Star Trek memorabilia. www.durhammuseum.org

Boys Town is great to tour year round. www.boystown.org/aboutus/tour/

My kids enjoyed eating at Spaghetti Works for the all-you-can-eat pasta served to your table, and salad bar. www.spagworks.com

Friends just stayed at new Hampton Inn Suites downtown. Said it had the couch/bed as you walked in then kitchenette, bath and then the bedroom so plenty of privacy. Flat screen TVs in both rooms!

I%26#39;m sure your teens like shopping. The Old Market downtown is a great place to go.There lots of little shops with just about anything you would want or need.

I hope that helps.
