Hotels close to Stadium

I%26#39;m considering coming up for a Husker football game this year and am looking for a nice hotel within walking distance of the stadium. I can%26#39;t afford the Cornhusker. Would prefer something for less than $100/night Does not have to be new but it must be clean. Any suggestions?

The only other hotels within reasonable walking distance are the Embassy Suites and Holiday Inn which is being remodeled so it will be nice. They also remodeled it 10 years ago when it was changed to Holiday Inn from Ramada. I think that both the Holiday Inn and Embassy would be well over 100.00 a night. Football week-end will make all the rooms higher. You could stay on a hotel on north 27th and take the shuttle (charge both ways, last year it was 4.00 each way) from the Sumberland Toys R Us parking lot on 27th or 27th and Cornhusker Shopko parking lot. There are other parking lots pick-ups, but no hotel close. There are a lot of hotels within walking distance of these parking lots. I%26#39;m doing some research of the specific names and will send a later reply.

There is a Holiday Inn Express at 11th %26amp; Cornhusker, but that will be over $100.

On game weekends the prices all over town go up, some even double. Price go down as you get further away, but to get something decent you will pay more than $100.

We have used the shuttle, which is usually running 2 hours before game and at least 1 hour after. It is called the Star Tran Big Red Express, checked the website but no info yet.

The Suburban Extended Stay Hotel in Lincoln was remodeled recently and is at 17th and M Streets, easily within walking distance of the stadium. Check the reviews, but I have heard that it is clean and caters to the downtown business community.

Thanks to all for the responses. When my trip gets closer I%26#39;ll inquire about eateries and bars. Have enjoyed previous trips to Lincoln but want to get off the beaten path!

The Big Red Express Shuttle leaves from Slumberland/Toys R Us---27th %26amp; Superior (actual address 5240 N. 27th, which is north of Superior St. 7 blocks, and located on the east side of 27th). Your best choices for hotels within walking distance of the pick-up spot are:

West side of Superior Country Inn %26amp; Suite 402 476-5353

East side of Superior Staybridge Suites 402 438-7829

East side of Superior Best Western Crown Inn 402 438-4700

West side of Superior Americinn Lodge %26amp; Suites 402 435-1600
