VT Hokies Coming For Game Day

Several Hokie friends from all over the country are meeting in Lincoln for Virginia Tech football game. Looking for dinner(Fri)and lunch(Sat)suggestions. Also, hoping to find a pub or two to mix with the %26#39;Husker faithful. No nat%26#39;l chains - just some favorite local places. Any suggestions? We%26#39;re staying at Chase Suites at O %26amp; 68th but have a car and are excellent walkers. Thanks.

VT Hokies Coming For Game Day

Hello

Restaurants I would recommend are:

Crisantis

Venue

Lazlo’s (2) locations also downtown so it would be a nice place for lunch on Saturday

Granite City

Sporting Bars that I would recommend that are fairly close to Chase

Brewskys

Dinos Eastside Grill

Patty’s Pub

Saturday for the game you can go just about anywhere downtown and have a blast. Husker fans are great to party with even if you are with the opposing team.

Here is a link that you can look all of these up on that is user friendly. www.lincoln.org/visiting/restaurants/details…

Hope you have a great time.

Misty%26#39;s Steak House has a great party atmosphere and Grandmothers has the pep band come at 10.00p.m.in the lounge on Fri. to help everyone prepare for the game. Grandmother%26#39;s is 1 mile straight south of where you are staying. All of the pubs downtown broadcast the game and you are welcome to go to which one appeals to you when you are walking in that area. Most NE fans will welcome you, even if you are rooting for the opposing team.

A shuttle bus picks up people from Gateway/Westfield shopping mall in the parking lot. They charge 4.00 each way. They drop you off on the east side of the stadium.

Thanks for all the great suggestions. Can%26#39;t wait to party with all the Husker fans and see your part of the world. Go Hokies!

In case you didn%26#39;t know, Granite City is a chain.

I don%26#39;t think you could go wrong with Misty%26#39;s or Grandmothers on Friday night.

For Saturday, I%26#39;d recommend going downtown around lunch time and try to get in Lazlo%26#39;s. It%26#39;s Lincoln%26#39;s local brewpub. Pretty good food and beer. Then wander through some of the bars of the Haymarket area. I%26#39;d consider the couple of bars down there to be a little classier than the O street bars. Brewsky%26#39;s has a ton of TV%26#39;s if you%26#39;re looking to watch an afternoon game.

The watering hole at 13th and O has great wings.

Barry%26#39;s on 9th street and a block north of O can get pretty busy. There%26#39;s also plenty of bars on O street between 10th and 17th.

If you make it to Sandy%26#39;s (14th and O) I%26#39;d recommend of pitcher of their Elk Creek Water.

I believe the Embassy Suites at 10th and P also does a free tailgate with music and beer a couple of hours before the game as well.

Just to second a post from above, there aren%26#39;t any places in Lincoln where fans of the opposing team would have to stay away from or places where you%26#39;d get yelled at or something. 99.9% of all Husker fans would respect that you%26#39;ve travelled all this way and would definitely be friendly to you. Enjoy, it%26#39;ll be a great time.

I%26#39;d also suggest trying to get to the game an hour early. That way you won%26#39;t have to rush to your seat, and you can take in the pregame festivities. Hell, our NU band will actually play your fight song before the game during the pregame on the field.

No open containers in Lincoln, so you%26#39;re thinking about walking around with a beer, best to use a red cup. Just a tip. Enjoy the game.

Thanks for all the great tips. Glad (but not surprised) to hear that the Huskers appreciate when the opponent%26#39;s fans make the trek to Lincoln. Blacksburg, Virginia is definitely off the beaten track and we LOVE when opposing fans make the effort to visit. We%26#39;ll nix any open containers and we will bring plenty of ORANGE %26amp; MAROON cups. We%26#39;ll bring enough to share - 81,067, right?
