Olympic Trials Swimming -- What else is up in O that week?

The US Olympic Trials for swimming is at the Qwest Center the week of (about) June 29 to July 6. What else is going on in Omaha that week? I would forecast a few visits to the zoo, maybe a jaunt across the bridge to play cards, out to Petrow%26#39;s for pork tender or hot beef and a clown sundae ... OMG we%26#39;re going to need some active time. We have a varied group with varied interests.

So, what%26#39;s up that week?

The Stratcom Aerospace Museum south on I80 is always a good deal and Mahoney State Park is right next door and on the eastside of the same exit is the drive thru Omaha zoo.

Weather update: severe thunderstorm roared through the area heavy tree damage from winds 70-90 mph also did alot of damage to the summer arts festival and some cosmetic damage to the Qwest Center.

As of right now most events are expecting to be going again tomorrow however some maybe at a reduced level.

The weather forecast for the weekend and into early next week is very good low 80%26#39;s and drier.

Thanks for the tips. Just got home from the Trials, and had a great time in Omaha again. What a fantastic city! We arrived just after the storms, and saw much evidence of them ... massive trees uprooted or broken off. Everyone kind of bounced back and kept going, and we never had to change our plans or miss anything due to the damage.

btw ... the Qwest Center was an unbeatable venue for the swimming event, and having the Old Market in walking distance was even better ... lots of good meals at high-quality, local, unique eateries. What a treat!

Way to go, Omaha!

Thanks for your follow up post on Omaha, and your comment about all the restuarants in the Old Market. I can see us Omaha people referencing your post whenever an Old Market restaurant question comes up.

Glad you enjoyed our city.
